Volume 13 - A World of Symbols (Part 1)
My real induction into the world of symbols came about apparently by accident but more likely by divine intent. Following a whisper of Spirit in my late 40’s ‘to go to the wood’, I began to turn wooden pieces, and then because I was teaching teenagers at the time, would on occasion bring some of them into the classroom to use as teaching aids. I then noticed the fascination of the kids and more importantly how months later they would remember the lesson associated with each piece. A feature in the wood might have originally been discovered as a defect but with acceptance of what was, could be transformed into something beautiful. As they were seeing themselves in the light of wood, so was I seeing the power of symbols to help people make sense of what was going on in their lives and to have a window into their inner world.
